Maine State Police say an alleged domestic violence incident prompted a shelter-in-place order for part of Bradford on Monday.
A Bradford Man Faces Multiple Charges for Domestic Violence Incident
Timothy Philpot, 60, of Bradford is charged with domestic violence criminal threatening, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, and felony level criminal mischief.
Police Issued a Shelter in Place Advisory
State Police responded to a home on Drake Road in Bradford at approximately 7:00 Monday morning for a report of a domestic violence incident involving an armed man and his wife. When they arrived at the scene, Troopers found Philpot outside his home, on a public way, carrying a firearm. Officials tried to get him to surrender but he refused to comply.
At this point, the shelter in place advisory was issued, in order to keep neighboring residents safe. Philpot's wife was able to get out of the house safely and was not injured in the incident.
Maine State Police Negotiated for Several Hours to Resolve the Issue
After several hours of conversation with the Maine State Police Crisis Negotiation Team, Philpot was taken into custody by Troopers and the Maine State Police Tactical Team. He was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center and then to the Penobscot County Jail.
