One Person Was Taken to the Hospital
An initial investigation into the circumstances of the crash indicate that the passenger vehicle was traveling north when the driver lost control and spun out before coming to rest in the roadway. The vehicle was then struck by a box truck and the box truck then struck the tractor-trailer. At this point, officials say the box truck rolled over the guardrail, coming to rest partially down an embankment.
According to Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says the only person injured in the crash was the box truck driver. He was transported to Central Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Traffic was reduced to one lane for 2 1/2 hours for the removal of the two trucks.
Police Say Speed and Weather Were Factors in the Crash
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, however the police say speed combined with wet roads were contributing factors.
