Two people are charged with murder for the September death of a man in Biddeford.

Both Suspects in the Biddeford Death are Charged With Felony Murder

A man and woman are now in custody:

  • Garret Labonte, 45, of South Biddeford is charged with murder, felony murder, and robbery.
  • Linda Lambert, 57 of Biddeford is charged with felony murder and robbery.

Both were taken to the York County Jail.

Biddeford Victim Suffered Gunshot Wounds

Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says the charges stem from an incident on September 27, 2024 in the area of 135-137 Foss Street in Biddeford. Police responded to a report of shots fired just before 11:00 that night and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers tried to render aid to Gene Dares, 46, but he passed away at the scene. An autopsy was performed by the Chief Medical Examiner's Office, where the manner of death was determined to be a homicide.

Both Suspect Were Arrested Just Over a Month After the Biddeford Murder

Labonte and Lambert were arrested on Monday, October 28th. They're expected to make their first court appearance on October 30th.
