Maine State Troopers Responded to the Report of a Shooting Sunday Morning
The Augusta Regional Communications Center received a 911 call just after 11:00 Sunday morning, reporting a shooting in a home at 15 Point Road in Belgrade. Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says Troopers responded, along with members of Belgrade Rescue and Delta Ambulance.
Police Have Identified the Victim as the Alleged Shooter's Mother
Christina Bell, 58, who lives at the residence was found inside the home with serious injuries. She was transported via LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center in Portland and later to a Boston hospital. Officials say she is expected to survive.
An adult male identified as her son, Samuel Bell, left the home in his vehicle and was taken into custody by Troopers without incident on Guptill Road. Police say Bell did not live at the house with his parents. He was taken into custody and taken to the Kennebec County Correctional Facility. So far, police have not commented on a possible motive for the shooting.
