The Bangor Area Recovery Network will hold a fun event on Saturday that will include Christmas cookies, gift shopping, and celebrity gift wrapping.

The BARN is a gathering place for folks who are on a journey of recovery from substance use disorder. It's where people can find positive reinforcement, counseling, and education about how to take the next step toward life without substances.

On Saturday, December 15th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., organizers are inviting the public into the Center Street facility for a Christmas fundraiser that's offering some treats and shopping, as well as a chance for folks to see what's inside and meet some of the people who have been helped by the program. All the money raised will benefit the many programs of the Bangor Area Recovery Network.

There will be several different kinds of fun:

Christmas Cookies - Visitors are invited to make a donation, select a holiday tin, and fill it with their choice of Christmas cookies. In addition, anyone who wants to donate cookies can drop them off at the BARN between 3 and 6 p.m. on Friday or anytime on Saturday.

Shopping for Gifts - Peruse the new gifts that can be purchased, by donations. You never know what you might find!

Celebrity Gift Wrapping - Some local celebrities, including Brewer's Mayor Bev Uhlenhake, and members of the Central Maine Roller Derby, will be wrapping those gifts, by donation.

The BARN is located at 142 Center Street in Brewer, on the corner of Main and Center Streets.
