Mississippi Man Faces Charges After A Shooting In Bangor
Bangor Police say a man from Mississippi has been arrested after a shooting that sent one man to the hospital.
Police Have Charged a Mississippi Man For a Bangor Shooting
Martavious Moore, 30, of Collins, Mississippi is charged with:
- Elevated aggravated assault
- Reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon
- Refusal to submit to arrest
- Disorderly conduct
He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
One Person Suffered a Gunshot Wound Thursday Night on Hogan Road
Detective Lieutenant Brent Beaulieu says Bangor Police received a 911 call just after 9:00 Tuesday night of a shooting outside of 701 Hogan Road. When Officers arrived on the scene, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. 701 Hogan Road is the address for the Bangor Inn and Suites.
Police Say an Armed Altercation Took Place in the Roadway
Police believe there was an altercation between Moore and the victim in the roadway of Hogan Road and Moore allegedly brandished a handgun and shot the other person. The victim was transported by Bangor Fire to a local hospital for treatment and is currently listed in critical condition. The victim's name has not been released.
Bangor Police Say the Shooting Suspect Refused to Cooperate
When Police arrived, Moore refused to engage with them and, since there was a known presence of firearms, the department's Special Response Team and Negotiators were called to the scene. When they were finally able to take him into custody, the police found a handgun, believed to have been used in the shooting, as well as a rifle in Moore's motel room. Officials say additional charges are likely as the investigation progresses.
