Todd Whitman, 37, of Hermon faces multiple charges:

Officials Say the Suspect and Bangor Shooting Victim are Known to Each Other

The charges stem from an incident on Franklin Street Wednesday night. Bangor Police received a report just after 9:00 that a person had been shot and the suspect was leaving the scene. Bangor Police Sergeant Jason McAmbley says Whitman was known to the victim, who identified the suspect to the police. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover.

Officers began a search and located the vehicle Whitman was believed to be operating. However, when the police tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver refused to stop, leading officers on a short pursuit until they discontinued the chase. The vehicle was found sometime later in Hermon, parked and abandoned.

Hermon Man Tracked to Bangor and Taken Into Custody

Working on information gathered during the investigation, the police were able to track Whitman to a residence in Hermon. Before officials could get a search warrant, however, the suspect was spotted getting into a vehicle and leaving the house. Police officers followed the vehicle to Bangor, where they discovered Whitman was on foot nearby. During a search of the area, Whitman was located on Davis Road in Bangor and taken into custody.
