Bangor Man Faces Drug, Gun Charges After Found Asleep in Car
A Bangor man faces several charges after police discovered him asleep in a car in Old Town with a stolen gun and a large amount of drugs and cash.
Christopher Webber, 43, was charged Saturday with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of stolen property, and drug possession.
On Saturday, Old Town police received a welfare check complaint of a vehicle at Wicketts Lane and Poplar Street, and officers observed Webber in a vehicle on the side of the road.
Webber appeared to be sleeping, with a handgun sitting next to him in the seat, according to police. Police learned through the course of the investigation that Webber was a felon and that the firearm was stolen. A search of the vehicle located drug paraphernalia. The K9 on scene also alerted for drugs on a locked backpack. Webber had more than $1,100 in cash, police said.
On Monday, police executed a search warrant on the backpack and discovered a large amount of drugs, and more than $3,500 in cash. He was charged with Aggravated Trafficking Schedule Drugs, which is a Class A crime.
Webber is being held at Penobscot County Jail.
