Bangor, Maine News Update: October 19, 2021
Belfast Police are asking for the public's help locating a 40-year-old woman. Joy MacDonald hasn't been in contact with her family since September 9th, 2021. Her vehicle was located near the foot bridge in Belfast, but there was no sign of her.
Residents can now get burn permits online for free, after a new law went into effect this week, eliminating the fee. Permits are required for outdoor open burns and can also be obtained through your local fire department. Find more information on the Maine Burn Permit website.
Starting on Friday, the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland will require proof of vaccination or results of a recent negative COVID test from everyone attending events at the venue. Officials say the rules apply to anyone age 12 and over, and mask-wearing is also strongly recommended. The Maine CDC says transmission of COVID is high in Cumberland County.
A fall foliage train ride takes on a Halloween air this Saturday, as kids on the train will be able to pick their own pumpkins from a pumpkin patch. The Pumpkin Express will leave the Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad’s Unity Depot at 11:00 in the morning. Find more information on the Pumpkin Express Facebook page.
Families are invited to enjoy some early Halloween festivities at the Old Town/Orono YMCA this Friday from 5 to 10. The evening will include a trunk or treat, family pumpkin carving, and an outdoor showing of the movie Hotel Transylvania.
The Maine Witch Walk is canceled for this year, out of concerns for the spread of COVID-19. It's been two years since a group of people, dressed as witches, walked from Brewer to Bangor on the Day of Bangor's Zombie Walk, and then danced on the Bangor Waterfront. The next Maine Witch Walk is planned for 2022.
