Police are investigating after 100 thousand dollars in jewelry was stolen from a Farmingdale store.  Officials say someone broke into Kennebec Jewelry during the early morning hours of August 2nd. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office.

Maine saw its first tornado of 2019 on Monday, when one touched down in Washington County. The EF 1 traveled about a quarter mile on the ground in Kossuth Township around 5:30 Monday night, with wind speeds of 90 miles per hour. The National Weather Service says 120 trees were taken down. ​

Maine's police departments are facing an officer shortage, with a long list of agencies with current openings. Many of the departments are offering sign-on bonuses for new hires. Job seekers who are looking for jobs in law enforcement can find the list on the state of Maine website.

The town of Milbridge has been overtaken by lighthouses, as a way to raise money for the local theater. Artists have adopted the seven lighthouses and painted each of them with a different theme in preparation for their sale in a silent auction later this month. A motorcycle ride tomorrow will support the Maine Veterans' Home in Bangor and the veterans' wilderness retreat known as the House in the Woods in Lee.
