Confirmed: Tornado Touches Down In Washington County
Maine's first confirmed tornado of the year touched down in Washington County.
The National Weather Service confirmed the EF1 tornado touched down in Kossuth Township. The twister briefly touched down at 5:40 p.m. on Monday, August 12.
According to the NWS assessment, the tornado had estimated wind speeds of 90 MPH, and cut a path .25 miles long, with a max width of 200 yards. One hundred and twenty trees were taken down by the tornado. No structures were damaged.
