
Bangor Maine Man On Probation Charged For Fatal Crash
A Bangor man is facing charges after a police pursuit and crash led to the death of another man from Bangor.
All Four Occupants of the Vehicle That Crashed in Wesley Are From Bangor
The victim has been identified as John Branscombe, 38, of Bangor. There were a total of four Bangor residents in the vehicle that was driven by 21-year-old James Nile.
A Sheriff's Deputy Pursued the Car They Allegedly Saw Speeding in the Wrong Lane
It was just after 6:30 Saturday night when a Hancock County Sheriff's Deputy saw a car on Route 9 in Aurora that was traveling in the wrong lane at a high rate of speed. The deputy tried to get the driver to pull over but, while he stopped briefly, he then sped off, beginning a pursuit that traveled through several communities on Route 9.
The chase ended in Wesley, when the car crashed and three of the occupants, including Nile, fled on foot. The fourth, John Branscomb, died of his injuries from the crash. The three suspects were all located, within the next 16 hours, and given medical attention.
The Driver in the Wesley Crash Was Out On Probation For Burglary
James Nile of Bangor is charged with aggravated eluding, aggravated driving to endanger, and operating after suspension. He was already on probation for burglary at the time of his arrest and so he's being held at the Hancock County Jail for violating the conditions of his probation.
This crash remains under investigation by the Maine State Police.
