
Maine Game Warden’s Celebration of Life in Bangor
A celebration of life is being held on Thursday for Maine Game Warden Joshua Tibbetts, who died this month, in the line of duty.
Maine Game Warden Died in the Line of Duty When His Plane Went Down
Game Warden Pilot Joshua Tibbetts lost his life on May 12, 2026, when his plane crashed in the town of Avon as he was on a routine run, stocking fish.
Tibbetts dedicated his life to serving the people of Maine, in the Maine Warden Service for 18 years, and as a member of the Penobscot County Sheriff's Department before that.
Maine Game Warden's Celebration of Life is Open to All Who Wish to Honor Him
On Thursday, May 21, 2026, his dedication will be remembered in a celebration of life at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
The public is invited to attend and honor his many years of service.
Doors will open at 11 am on Thursday, and all attendees must be seated by 12.

No one will be allowed to enter the building after noon.
As people approach the Cross Insurance Center parking areas, uniformed law enforcement officers will be lined up along Bass Park Drive. Those individuals will begin to enter the Cross Insurance Center just after 12.
The service is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.
Maine Game Warden Joshua Tibbetts Will Be Remembered With a Flyover
At 2:00, the ceremony will move to the rear parking lot for a traditional playing of Taps, a firing salute, an aircraft flyover, the folding and presentation of the casket flag, and the last call.
No RSVP is required to attend the ceremony, but, again, people must be inside and in their seats by noon.
A private internment ceremony for the family will be held separately.
