The ads in question are incredibly bold, featuring a picture of the casino and the Maine seal. Hollywood Casino officials say don't be fooled. They have nothing to do with the real Hollywood Casino or its owner, Penn Gaming.

Colorful, enticing ads are popping up on people's Facebook news feeds, offering online gaming and even a $1,500 bonus for Maine residents. This type of iCasino activity is not operated or authorized by Hollywood Casino and is illegal in Maine.

Bangor, Maine, Casino Officials Tried to Block the Fake Gaming Ads

Hollywood Casino Vice-President and General Manager Marc Guastella says the public needs to know that these ads are fraudulent.

We have reported the ads, but they keep appearing, perhaps under different accounts or screen names, and we are getting questions about them almost every day from visitors as well as employees.

He says anyone who sees the ads needs to know that they are a scam.

Bangor, Maine, Casino, Officials Say Their Only Wagering App is For Horse Racing

Anyone who clicks on one of these ads will be taken to a website where they can download an app called 'Hollywood Casino Bangor,' offered by Hollywood Casino Inc. Neither the app nor the 'company name' is connected to the Bangor facility or its parent company, PENN Entertainment.

The only online wagering connected to Hollywood Casino is an app for online wagering on horse racing called HollywoodRaces, which is parimutual betting and legal in Maine.
