One person is dead after an early morning house fire in Bangor.

The Identity of the Victim of the Bangor Fire Hasn't Been Released

The State Fire Marshal's Office has tentatively identified the victim as Carla Durgin, 84. Ms. Durgin was the sole occupant of the residence. An autopsy is planned to confirm her identity and cause of death.

A Neighbor Called 911 After Seeing the Fire on Fairways in Bangor

The fire was reported at around 5:00 Monday morning at a home at 62 Fairways by a neighbor who called 911. Witnesses say when crews arrived, flames reached high above the roof. While the blaze was extinguished quickly, one person died in the fire.

Fairways is a cul-de-sac off New York Street, near the Bangor Municipal Golf Course.

Investigators With the State Fire Marshal's Office are Looking Into the Fire's Cause

Now, the State Fire Marshal's Office will investigate to determine how the fire started.
