He Was Arrested After Allegedly Threatening to Burn Down His Apartment Building
Police Officers responded to an apartment building on Lincoln Street in Bangor at approximately 6:00 Saturday evening, after two different tenants of the building reported Ireland was allegedly making threats. The callers said Ireland appeared to be intoxicated, was telling people to get out of the building, and was threatening to burn the building down. Bangor Police Sergeant Jason McAmbley confirmed that Ireland owns the building in question.
Ireland had been involved in an incident earlier in the day with Bangor Police during which he was found to be carrying a loaded handgun, so the officers evacuated all the occupants of the building and tried to call him outside. Officials say Ireland responded by inviting the police to come upstairs so he could 'show' them something.
Ireland Was Taken Into Custody After a Brief Struggle
After about twenty minutes, police say Ireland came out of the building and the officers tried to arrest him, but he resisted. After a brief struggle, he was taken into custody and transported to the Penobscot County Jail.
