The City of Bangor has issued a parking ban effective Monday at 5 p.m. until Tuesday at 6 a.m.

"After 5pm, all cars left in the roadways will be towed," the city said on Facebook Monday afternoon. "Public Works is working diligently to clear roads, however, they are slowed down significantly by cars left in the streets."

The Bangor Police Department issued a press release saying residents can still park their cars in a few parking lots around the city.

  • Sawyer Arena parking lot off Thirteenth Street.
  • Cameron Field parking lot off Mt. Hope Avenue.
  • Under the Columbia Street Parking deck.
  • Under the parking garage at Pickering Square (in the rear, on the Kenduskeag Stream side of the structure).

The department urged drivers to stay off the roads until road conditions improve. The National Weather Service in Caribou said precipitation would likely end around 6 p.m.
