Bangor Fire Dept Asks for Help After Fireman Loses Home to Fire
The Bangor Fire Department is asking for help for one of their own, a former city firefighter who's lost everything to fire.
A House Fire Can Take Everything In a Moment
House fires are never kind. They take everything a person owns and leave them with nothing. If the residents are lucky and have help from some brave firefighters, they survive the fire and lose only their material possessions. Still...they are left to start over, from scratch. Possessions and memories are gone in an instant.

The Victim of a Palermo Fire is a Former Bangor Firefighter
It seems especially harsh when the person displaced by the fire has dedicated their life to saving other people's homes. This happened to Phil 'Jethro' Dow, Jr. a retired Bangor firefighter, who now works as a full-time Chaplain and is a member of the Albion Fire Department.
Phil and his wife, Rose, lost everything to a house fire on April 6th in Palermo. Rose's elderly parents also lived in the home, where her father has been receiving hospice care. All the occupants of the building made it out safely, including the three dogs. But now, they are left with no home and no belongings.
Dow's Family Are Asking for Donations to Help Jethro and Rose Recover
Jethro's family has set up a GoFundMe page, to help them get back on their feet, and the Bangor Professional Firefighters shared the link on their Facebook page. The family hopes for donations and prayers as Jethro, Rose, and her parents work to rebuild their lives.
We wish them the best.
