Sergeant Jason McAmbley says the crash happened when the tractor-trailer driver traveling south on Broadway failed to stop for a flashing red light at the intersection. This caused the tractor-trailer to collide with a pickup truck as it traveled east on State Street.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area as crews worked to clear the scene. Towing companies, Bangor Police and Fire Departments, and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, worked for much of the morning.

Officials Say One Driver Sustained Minor Injuries

The pickup truck driver sustained minor injuries in the crash. There's no indication the tractor-trailer driver was hurt, but they were summonsed for running the red light.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
