A Texas man has been arrested twice in two days in Bangor for domestic assault, and allegedly cut his own face and blamed the victim.

Bangor Police Arrested a Texas Man Twice in 2 Days for Violent Attacks

Aric Houghton, 30, of San Antonio, Texas, faces multiple charges:

  • Domestic violence aggravated assault (2 counts)
  • Obstructing the report of a crime
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Violation of conditions of release

He is being held at the Penobscot County Jail.

The Texas man Told Bangor Police His Girlfriend Had Cut His Face

The first arrest happened on January 7th when Bangor Police responded to Houghton's girlfriend's apartment. That encounter resulted in one of the two domestic violence aggravated assault charges, as well as obstructing, and criminal mischief. The victim's name has not been released.

The very next day, Houghton called the Bangor Police to report his girlfriend had assaulted him at her apartment. When officers arrived, they found Houghton bleeding from cuts on his face that he claimed were caused by his girlfriend, who he said attacked him with a razor blade. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers located the girlfriend, who had also been the victim in the January 7th arrest. She told them that Houghton had used his key to enter her apartment and had attacked her again, causing her to think he was there to kill her. During the alleged assault, she said Houghton had used a razor blade to cut his face, telling her he was going to say she did it and have her arrested. Houghton was placed under arrest again, and charged with a second count of domestic violence aggravated assault and violation of conditions of release. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
