A plan is being put in place to help workers prepare for the closure of the Verso Mill in Bucksport December 1st, which is expected to put more than 500 people out of work.

Business, education, community and career counseling officials as well as social service agencies met with union leaders in Ellsworth yesterday to discuss needs, and what resources are available. Resume writing, financial planning, healthcare, assistance with computer training, and job fairs were among the items identified. A fund is also being set up to help those workers who may find themselves in need of assistance down the road.
