‘Ahoy’ Or ‘Hello?’

When you answer the phone, or should I say, if you answer the phone, do you say 'Hello'? You might say 'Ahoy', if it hadn't been for Thomas Edison. He wrote a letter on this date suggesting all ignore the wish of Alexander Graham Bell who said we should answer with 'Ahoy'.

Imagine if those two were alive today, when most rarely use the phone to actually talk. Texting, Selfies, and anything but 'Hello' or 'Ahoy'.

Today though, I'm answering my phone with 'Ahoy'. May I suggest you answer with 'I listen to Q106.5'  Thank you!
