What do a police officer, commercial airline pilot, teacher, and emergency room pharmacist share in common with a journalist?

In this case, music is the answer, and when I'm not busy news gathering and reporting I'm working as a part of an amazing musical team. That team is the Queen City Big Band, under the direction of music instructor and performance artist Brian Nadeau.

This 18-piece, community big band can swing like none other and I've been honored to sing with them for the past year. They have been performing now for thirteen years in the state of Maine.

Tonight, the Queen City Big band will perform a community concert as part of the town of Orrington's Old Home Week, celebrating its 225th birthday.

Admission to the hour long concert/dance is a cash donation of your choosing to The Gifts of Music which is a non-profit organization supporting music education for Maine youth.

Below are a few highlights from recent, past performances of the Queen City Big Band.

We hope to see you tonight at the show at the Center Drive School in Orrington from 6-7pm.

Following the swing concert/dance the Ed Thomas Revue takes the stage featuring Orrington native and ventriloquist Ed Thomas, and his sidekick Hugo.

That show starts at 7:30pm for a separate admission fee.
