Officials have released the names of some of the people involved in a single-vehicle crash in Livermore that killed one teen and injured three others.
UPDATE: Officials Have Released the Names of the Teens
More details have been released about the people involved in the single-vehicle crash in Livermore. The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office says the 16-year-old who died in the crash has been identified as Sean Hiscock of Livermore Falls. Lachlan Gilbert, 16, of Livermore was driving the Ford Focus, which is owned by Michael Gilbert of Livermore. All the teens are students in RSU 73.
Where Was the Crash?
According to the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department, the crash was reported just after 10:00 Saturday morning on the Norlands Road in Livermore and was said to be a single-vehicle crash. When they arrived, they found a 16-year-old male who had died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. Three other passengers, who were in the vehicle and ranged in age from 16 to 17 years old, were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
How Did the Crash Happen?
An initial investigation into the circumstances of the crash suggests that the vehicle was traveling south on the Norlands Road when the 16-year-old driver lost control, causing the vehicle to hit a utility pole and then roll over. Officials say it appears speed and wet road conditions may have been factors in the crash. Alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to have been factors. Officials say there have been comments about the driver's age and the fact that he had passengers with him. The teen's driver's license is from another state and officials say they will be looking into the restrictions that may be imposed on young drivers there.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office says all the findings from their investigation will be turned over to the District Attorney's Office to determine whether any charges will be filed.
Norlands Road was closed for several hours while the crash was being investigated.
