The Bangor Police Department says starting next week things will get a bit complicated for motorists who use the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge between the cities of Bangor and Brewer and the project's expected to last into November.

Starting Monday the Department of Transportation starts scraping the bridge to prepare it for a re-painting project that’s supposed to run into November.

As the project begins Monday the eastbound lane of Summer Street in Bangor will be closed, and starting May 22nd the bridge lane traveling from Bangor into Brewer will be closed. The lane carrying traffic from Brewer into Bangor will remain open.

Bangor Police say for the duration of this project there will be no parking on Main Street from Union to Water, and no parking on Water from Main St to the Key Bank to allow for larger trucks and increased traffic moving through the area.

Motorists are asked to pay attention to detour and no parking signs.
