It's referred to as a blood moon, and it's essentially a full lunar eclipse that gives the moon a red appearance.

While the backyard astronomer is delighted to catch a glimpse of this celestial occurrence, others believe this eclipse, and others to follow, are a sign from God.

"And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come. And it shall come to pass that whoever should call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered..."(Joel 2:30-32)

Although I was christened as a Catholic when I was young, I'm not a church goer, nor do I profess to be a student of religion.

I do however have an insatiable sense of curiosity and I love to learn.

Also, the job of a journalist is to ask questions, armed with a healthy amount of skepticism, and connect the dots.

So, as I've noticed the level of strife and turmoil on the rise throughout the world, particularly in the Middle East, I was intrigued when I saw that one such "blood moon" is due to happen tomorrow night. (We probably won't see it here in Maine because of rainy weather)

I was also intrigued when one man decided to compare the dates of the eclipses with the dates on the biblical calendar.

Mark Biltz's findings are explained out in a book titled, Blood Moons, Decoding the Imminent Signs.

According to Biltz's studies, the eclipses have been pre-determined by God as he communicates with us, prior to judgement day, or His second coming.

What do you think?
