70+ Firefighters Battled a Huge Fire at Cooper Farms in Monmouth
A massive fire in Monmouth consumed a workshop and its contents, but didn't affect the main building at Cooper Farms.
When Was the Fire Reported?
It was around 10:45 Saturday night when fire crews responded to a call of a structure fire at 155 Norris Hill Road. When they arrived, they found a workshop, that's attached to the main building, fully involved in fire with visible flames shooting through the roof.
Multiple agencies were called to assist in battling the blaze that officials say included many explosions. The roof collapsed early on, as well. Vehicles and equipment were destroyed in the fire.
Was the Workshop Destroyed?
Over 70 firefighters worked together to battle the blaze that burned the edges of the roof of the larger building, but was stopped before it spread any further into the main structure. The workshop, however, is considered a total loss.
Did Anyone Get Hurt?
According to Chief Roy of the Monmouth Fire Department, it took less than two hours to get the fire under control. There were no injuries reported. Now, the State Fire Marshal's Office will investigate to determine how the fire started.
We'll update this story as more details become available.
