68-Year-Old Lee Man Died in Saturday’s 2-Vehicle Crash in Lincoln
Police have released more details about last week's crash in Lincoln that claimed the life of a Lee man.
Have Police Released the Identity of the Deceased?
The victim of the crash has been identified as Lawrence Leavitt, 68, of Lee. Leavitt was a passenger in one of two vehicles involved in the crash and died at the scene.
What Happened?
Lincoln Police say the crash happened Saturday on Route 6, near the intersection with Buena Vista Drive. Officials responded at around 10:30 in the morning and found a GMC pickup that was driven by Mark Theriault, 59, of Lincoln and a Ford Edge driven by Carol Marino, 76, also of Lincoln. Leavitt was a passenger in Theriault's vehicle.
An investigation into the circumstances of the crash indicates that Theriault lost control of his pickup and crossed over the center line, into the path of Marino's vehicle. Marino's Edge struck Theriault's truck on the passenger side, where Leavitt was seated.
Was Anyone Else Hurt?
Lawrence Leavitt was pronounced deceased at the scene. Theriault refused treatment while Marino was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Our condolences to Mr. Leavitt's friends and family.
The crash was investigated by Lincoln Police, with help from Maine State Police and Bangor Police. Lincoln's Interim Police Chief Mark E. Leonard urges drivers to use caution this time of year, especially at times when black ice can pose 'significant hazards' on the roads.
