Three suspects in an alleged home invasion, that prompted local schools to go into lockdown mode, have been identified.

What Happened in the Home Invasion?

It was a tense day in the Norridgewock area Wednesday that began when two men and a woman entered a home on Airport Road in Norridgewock shortly after 8:00 in the morning. Both male suspects were reportedly armed. The Somerset County Sheriff's Office reports the trio allegedly assaulted a resident of the home and took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing into the woods. Sheriff Dale Lancaster says the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Where Were the Suspects Found?

The female suspect was apprehended about thirty minutes later in a field off Route 2, but the men remained at large.  A massive manhunt was launched, with representatives from multiple agencies participating, including the Maine State Police. At around 1:30 in the afternoon, the two men were located at a privately owned farm on Route 2 and arrested without incident.

Chief Lancaster has released the identities of the suspects and the charges they face:

  • Yavier Coraeling, 37, has extraditable warrants out of Connecticut for gun charges and is now also charged with armed robbery.
  • Zaydi Issah, 29, whose last known address was in Pennsylvania, is charged with armed robbery.
  • Alexandra L. Goards, 37, of Waterville is charged with armed robbery.

Were Students in Any Danger During the Manhunt?

Norridgewock area schools went into lockdown mode as the manhunt began, as did a nearby Waste Management facility and New Balance. Residents in the area were advised to stay in their homes and lock their doors until the suspects could be located. The lockdowns and stay-at-home advisories were lifted at approximately 1:40 in the afternoon. Officials say the school children were never in any danger, but that the doors were locked and children kept inside out of an abundance of caution.
