2 Stolen Vehicles in Orrington May Be Tied to Orland Burglaries
The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office is investigating two stolen vehicles connected to the town of Orrington.
What Were the Vehicles That Were Stolen?
Deputy Chief John Knappe tells us that just before 4:00 Tuesday morning, May 9th, Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle that was seen off the roadway in the area of the intersection of River Road and Quarry Road in Orrington. No one was in the 2016 red Ford F-350 pickup truck when Deputies arrived and so it was towed and secured in an impound lot.
Later that same morning, at approximately 6:20, deputies responded to a stolen car complaint on the River Road in Orrington. Knappe says, at this point, the 2017 Chevrolet Traverse has not been located.
Were the Stolen Vehicle Cases Related?
As the investigation continued on Tuesday, officials determined that the red Ford F-350 found abandoned on River Road was actually stolen and is related to the Maine State Police's investigation into burglaries and thefts in Orland. Knappe says it's believed that the second stolen vehicle in Orrington may also be related to the same case.
Is This Related to the State Police Suspect Video?
Maine State Police have released a video of an individual they say is a suspect in the investigation into burglaries and thefts in Orrington and Orland. They've asked for the public's help identifying the man who was seen walking away from a home on someone's home surveillance video.
