A 15-year-old boy is dead and two other teenagers are injured in a Sunday morning crash.

Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says the Franklin County Regional Communications Center received a 911 call just after 8 AM Sunday of a single-vehicle crash on the Weld Road in Phillips.

Responding officers found a 15-year-old male passenger from Dixfield who was killed in the crash. Another passenger, 18-year-old Charlie Billings of Carthage, and the driver, 18-year-old Benjamin Carrol of Dixfield, were both transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

A preliminary investigation suggests that Carrol's Nissan Maxima went off the right side of the road and struck several large trees. Officials say speed appears to have been a factor in this crash, however, the investigation is not completed.

The name of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of family.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
