Waterfront Concert officials said this week that walk-through metal detectors are being added, as another measure of security.

WABI-TV reports the venue's staff members are doing what they can to assure concert-goers that they're taking steps to make the summer concert series as safe as possible. This after at least 22 people were killed when a bomb went off at the venue in the UK.

Folks attending concerts at Darling's Waterfront Pavilion this summer will notice the addition of walk-through metal detectors to increase the level of safety already in place. Officials say the fact that it's an outdoor venue gives it an advantage over indoor concert halls. The exit doors are wide, swinging doors, so concertgoers don't need to try and squeeze through small doorway.

In addition, the venue's clear bag policy is still in effect for the summer. According to the Pavilion's website, bags that are not see-through will not be allowed into the venue. All bags allowed in must be clear plastic or vinyl, no bigger than 12" by 6" by 12". The only other bags allowed in will be small clutch bags that are no larger than 8" by 5" by 2".

The Bangor Waterfront Concert Series summer season kicks off on Saturday, with Tool.
