If you've never been exposed to the world of Steampunk, it's pretty cool. It's kind of like where technology and the oldie-timey days meet and hang out. It would be sort of like if James Bond got his special gadgets from Nikola Tesla. Or if Mozart was writing songs for Toby Keith. Here's an example:

It's hard to imagine in some ways, but there's something about the world of Steampunk I find very satisfying. I love all my tech devices, but I find something fascinating about a world where all these things can coexist. Like that dude's hang gliding outfit thing. He looks like he should just fly away and do something wacky, yet dignified.

At any rate, at the end of this month on June 29th in Dexter, there will be a Steampunk Costume Ball and Craft Fair. The Ball will be held Friday night at Factory One on Water Street in Dexter. It will feature a dance contest, prizes, and tons of music! It is a 21+ event that night.

The next day, June 30th at the same location, but outdoors, will be the Steampunk Craft Fair and Festival. There will be Steampunk crafters and creators all day, as well as a bounce house, all sorts of food and carnie games. Plus live music, a bounce house, and lots of prizes to be had.

The whole thing is hosted by the Maine Association Promoting Steampunk, Rebel Steam Creations, and others. It will be undoubtedly one of the coolest spectacles you will witness this year, and it's right down the road in Dexter! How cool is that?

Maybe it's time to start working on your cool costume, or building some crazy contraption that you can bring to the event. There doesn't seem to be a lot of rules. Looks like the more creative, the better. So maybe we'll bump into each other at this cool gathering of funky minds. I'll be the one polishing my goggles, and getting ready to fly off into the sunset.
