The sales, meals and lodging taxes will be going up in Maine as a result of the state's new two-year budget.

Gov. Paul LePage was not in favor of any tax increase prompting his veto which was overridden Wednesday by the legislature.

LePage released this video response yesterday.

While the governor recognizes some benefits within the budget, he is deeply concerned by what motivates politicians moving forward.

“It is time to look past the next election and look forward to the next generation,” stated LePage.
