Many rivers and streams in Maine remain under flood watches and warnings, and low lying areas prone to Spring floods are underwater.

The town of Dexter is waiting for the rushing water to recede before they can begin to assess and repair damages sustained.

When Tuesday night's wind-swept rains arrived the problems started, and considering the east branch of the Sebasticook River literally runs through the Town of Dexter, it was no surprise when the basement of the Town Office started to flood.

Unfortunately, the situation worsened when culverts collapsed under the strain of the rushing water and roads were washed away in some sections of town.

It will be some time before town officials know the financial costs associated with the flooding disaster, but so far no one has been hurt, and residents are taking it all in stride.
