If your family is struggling right now, imagine spending a day getting free food, a hot meal, a mani/pedi, and a family portrait! Seem impossible? That's what will happen on the Bangor Waterfront later this month when the Convoy of Hope pulls in.

The Convoy of Hope is a faith-based, international, humanitarian-relief organization based in Springfield, Missouri. Volunteers are often seen in communities hit by natural disasters, like hurricanes and floods. But they also travel around with their eighteen wheelers, and bring hope to those who need it most.

Saturday, September 20th, on the Bangor Waterfront, the organization is holding a 'Day of Hope.' Some of the services that will be available for free include haircuts, medical exams, dental check-ups, manicures, pedicures, and family portraits.

The Convoy will bring free groceries and will serve up free meals. There will be a 'Kids Zone' that will feature bounce houses and games for the kids! And there will be some information available to help those in need of a job learn what resources are open to them in the community.

Several area churches are banding together to staff this amazing event. And it's all free of charge. Organizer Pastor Bobby Bledsoe from City Reach Bangor, who chatted with me about the day called it an amazing, inspirational event to bring hope to those who have lost their hope.
