Great news this morning from Maine Warden Corporal John MacDonald:

Game Warden Captain Chris Cloutier was sworn in this morning as the new Game Warden Major for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

Captain Cloutier holds a BS in Conservation Law Enforcement from Unity College.  He attended the First State Law Enforcement Basic School in 1995 and the Maine Warden Service Academy in 1996.  He has served as an Incident Commander for the Warden Service Incident Management Team and has been a Forensic Mapping Specialist for the Bureau.

Captain Cloutier became a Game Warden in southern Maine in 1995 and served there in that capacity until 2009 when he was promoted to Game Warden Sergeant in Greenville.  He was a Game Warden Sergeant from 2009-2011 and was then named Acting Lieutenant in 2011 before being promoted the rank of Game Warden Captain in 2011 until present.

Commissioner Chandler Woodcock commented “Major Cloutier has experienced each level of the Warden Service and will be a valued member of our leadership team.  I look forward to working with him in his new capacity”.

Deputy Commissioner Andrea Erskine also commented on Cloutier’s promotion by saying “I want to thank Chris for stepping up and taking on a very important leadership role for the Maine Warden Service.  There is no doubt Chris will advance the Service and I look forward to working with him”.

Captain Cloutier is a well-respected supervisor within the Warden Service who brings a disciplined and even mannered approach to his work.  He is a dedicated Game Warden who co-workers characterize as patient, reliable, and competent. Major Cloutier’s level of experience in both field level supervision and policy level skills in Augusta are among his greatest strengths” stated Colonel Joel Wilkinson.
