Pursuit From Berwick to York

York and Berwick Police have charged two men after a high speed pursuit ended with the seizure of drugs and guns.

The incident started when the two men were spotted acting in a suspicious manner at a Berwick convenience store, late Monday night. Berwick Police suspected the driver was under the influence and attempted to pull over the newer model Green Volkswagen Beetle. Police say the suspects were allegedly throwing items out of the car as they fled. The pursuit eventually crossed the line into York on Ogunquit Road.

York Police set up spike mats, that the driver was able to avoid. However, that caused him to lose control of the vehicle and he nearly hit a police cruiser. Shortly thereafter, the Volkswagen crashed on Mountain Road, where the suspects fled on foot. One suspect was caught after a foot pursuit, while a police K-9 was used to apprehend the driver.

Bryan Farr-Luciano, 23, of Shapleigh was charged by Berwick Police with eluding arrest, while York Police charged him with refusing to submit to arrest. Farr-Luciano is a felon and pending charges include: possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, driving to endanger, criminal speeding, resisting arrest and detention, operating after suspension, attaching false plates, passing a police roadblock, reckless conduct, and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

Passenger Dylan Roberts, 23 of Sanford, was charged by Berwick Police with aggravated trafficking of a scheduled drug and by York Police with refusing to submit to arrest.

This case remains under investigation.
