A strong winter storm will bring heavy snow to parts of Maine, Monday. In addition, very strong winds will gust to near 70 MPH along the coast.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a messy Monday. A winter storm will bring a mix of snow and rain to the coastal areas of Maine. While snow is not expected to pile up, strong wind gusts are a concern. Gusts could peak near 70 MPH at times along the coast.

More inland, the Bangor area could see as much as 5 inches of new snowfall, before changing over to a mix with rain. Strong wind gusts are possible, near 45 MPH at times.

Northern and western areas of the state will likely see the bulk of the snow. 5-9 inches of fresh snowfall is expected, as certain areas will not see a change over to rain throughout the storm. Winds will not be as strong, topping out near 30-40 MPH at times.

Versant Power says they're prepared for the winter storm, Tweeting: "Our internal crews, local contract crews and tree crews will be on standby to address any damage to our system."

The storm is also causing its share of traffic headaches.
