Winter Storm To Bring Heavy Snowfall To Bangor + Downeast Areas Friday
Winter weather advisories and warnings have been issued for the Bangor and Downeast areas, as a winter storm is expected to bring as much as a foot of snow to parts of Maine.
The National Weather Service is warning of a winter storm Friday that will bring accumulating snow to much of Maine. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the Bangor area, north to Millinocket. A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Downeast area, Friday. Downeast areas of the state will see the bulk of the snowfall, with a foot of snow expected.
The Bangor area could see as much as half a foot of snow pile up throughout the day. Northern areas of the state will see less snow from the storm, with as much as four inches of new snowfall expected.
Snow is expected to start falling early Friday morning and continue throughout the day, into the overnight hours. In addition to the snow, strong winds are expected Friday night. Forecasters say blowing and drifting snow is likely.
Looking to next week, bitter cold temps are expected throughout the state Tuesday. Highs are expected to top out around 6 above, with sub-zero temps expected overnight Monday into overnight Tuesday.
