The Maine Emergency Management Agency is advising everyone to make sure they have a picture of themselves with their pets.

Everytime I hear of a car accident where the driver's dog runs away and gets lost, I just want to jump in my car and go find them. It absolutely breaks my heart because I can't imagine what that person must be feeling. The car can be replaced, but the pet is a family  member.

So, MEMA officials advise putting a picture of yourself with your pet in your disaster preparedness kit, and I would suggest adding one to your vehicle. In the case of an accident, or an emergency, first responders will know that you have a pet and what he/she looks like. And, if you do get separated, you can prove to authorities that the pet they found is yours.

I have so many pictures of Gifford, it's ridiculous. I love taking pictures and adore my dog, so I have tons of photos. But I had to do a little digging to find a picture of the two of us together, and I actually went with one that includes my husband, Jim, since we're so often in the car together. Do you have a picture of yourself with your pet? I'd love to see it. Post it in the comments under this post on our Facebook page, or you could send it through the Q-106.5 app. Looking at pet pictures is a great way to kick off the weekend.
