Weird Al Yankovic Is Bringing His Awesome Accordion To Orono This Weekend
It's the kind of stuff my childhood dreams are made of.
I was just casually scrolling Facebook, and I saw that a friend was super stoked to see Weird Al Yankovic was going on tour. At first, I didn't think much of it, and on a whim, I checked his website's tour dates. Lo and behold, Weird Al is bringing his crazy rock & roll accordion up our way on his "...Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour".
That's right, this Saturday, he's coming to the Collins Center for the Arts up in Orono. How frikkin' cool is that? Of course, we all remember the "Eat It" video when Michael Jackson was at the height of his popularity, but the album I always loved the most was "Dare To Be Stupid". Definitely my favorite.
The setlist is going to look a little different this time around.
When I saw Weird Al back in the late '90s/early 2000s, his set was a mix of his gigantic parody hits, and his original songs. As I understand it, on this tour, he's going to be playing mostly his own originals. Such as "Dare To Be Stupid" or "Nature Trail To Hell: In 3D". Honestly, that's just fine with me. The hits are cool and all, but this will be a treat.
His opening act will be none other than legendary comic, Emo Philips, so it's going to be an amazing show. Those of us that are Weird Al fans are simply going to rejoice that he's coming to Maine.
