Rain and spring snow are in the forecast for much of Maine this weekend.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a stormy weekend. Friday features rain showers for the Bangor and Downeast areas. Northern areas may see a change over to snow Friday night into Saturday morning. A few inches of accumulation is possible. Slushy, messy roads are expected Saturday morning, but melting by midday.

After a mostly sunny Saturday, another storm system will move into the state Sunday. Snow is expected to the north, with rain Downeast, Sunday afternoon into Sunday night.

Recent warm weather and snow melt, paired with rain Friday, will cause rivers to continue to rise and some movement of ice. Forecasters warn of potential for ice jams and abrupt rises on rivers.
