Vehicle Fire on I-95 Northbound in Hampden [UPDATE]
A vehicle fire on I-95 is slowing traffic during the Wednesday morning commute.
UPDATE: State Police say the scene has been cleared and traffic is moving normally.
Maine State Police spokesperson Shannon Moss says the pickup truck fire is located at mile marker 179 in Hampden and was reported just before 6:00 Wednesday morning. Northbound traffic has been at a standstill while crews dealt with the fire. Just before 7:00, a State Police Dispatcher told us they were opening up one lane to traffic, but that travel would be slow.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area, if at all possible. Anyone who must travel through there should plan on extra time to get to their destination.
We'll update this story as more details become available.
