Two people were killed when their Toyota Camry crashed on North Belfast Avenue in Augusta Saturday morning.

Augusta Police say the accident happened just before 1:00 Saturday morning. Officers found the vehicle on its roof, near the intersection with Pipeline Road. The driver, 52-year-old David Smith, and his passenger, 46-year-old Lisa Pelletier, both of Windsor, were pronounced dead at the scene.

There was only one vehicle found at the scene, however police say, not all the details are known, at this time. The accident remains under investigation by the Maine State and Augusta Police Departments. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Augusta police.
