A man from Edinburg faces charges of manufacturing methamphetamine after police say they discovered a lab at his residence.

Eugene Pomeroy, 48, faces a felony charge of unlawful operation of a meth lab, according to a Sunday news release from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

In addition, Scott Lord Jr, 29, of Mattawamkeag, was charged with violations of conditions of release. Lord, who was out on bail on a pending MDEA charge for drug trafficking, was found hiding in the basement of Pomeroy’s house when officers arrived on Friday evening.

Both Pomeroy and Lord were transported to the Penobscot County Jail.

On Friday evening (Aug. 12) a Penobscot County deputy and a Maine State Police trooper went to Pomeroy's residence of located at 316 Edinburg Road in Edinburg looking for an individual wanted on an outstanding warrant.

The officers had reason to believe that this individual was at Pomeroy’s residence.

While at Pomeroy’s residence on this investigation, police discovered items consistent with those used to manufacture methamphetamine using the “one pot” or “shake and bake” method. Based upon the evidence gathered, the house was secured for the evening pending the application for a search warrant for the residence.

A search warrant for the Edinburg home was granted Saturday (Aug. 13) and at around noontime, MDEA’s clandestine lab team arrived in order to dismantle the lab and collect evidence pertinent to this criminal investigation.

Police say a significant amount of evidence consistent with the manufacturing of methamphetamine was collected during the search.
