Two men from Bangor face felony charges after police say they robbed a credit union Tuesday morning.

Corey Violette, 28, and Earl Torrence, 43, each were charged with robbery, a Class A felony.

Police received a report at about 11:30 a.m. of a robbery at 417 State Street, the Acadia Federal Credit Union located at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. Responding officers learned a suspect (later identified as Torrence) had fled in vehicle driven by Violette prior to their arrival.

An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen during the robbery.

No one was injured.

It only took about a half hour to catch up with the suspects. At about noon, officers located the suspect’s vehicle parked on Essex Street, just below State Street. The men were taken into custody without incident.

Both are now being held at the Penobscot County Jail. Bail was set at $10,000 cash.

Violette was in possession of a loaded handgun when he was taken into custody, according to police.
