State Police say the driver, 46-year-old Corey White of Virginia, wasn't hurt in the incident. He was traveling north to Bangor, with a load of Coca-Cola products, when he noticed the fire. White pulled into the breakdown lane at mile 26, just after 1:00 Monday morning, and called for help.
All three northbound lanes were closed for a time as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. The Kenworth truck is owned by Bale Brothers from Fayetteville, North Caroline and the trailer is owned by Falcon Transportation of Presque Isle. The truck and its load of soda are considered a total loss.
