These are The Safest Cities in Maine for 2017

With low crime rates for violent crime and property crimes, three Penobscot County cities made the list.

Every year Roadsnacks.com releases a list of the safest cities in America along with lists for the safest cities per state. Maine's top 10 did not include Maine's major cities like Portland, Lewiston, or Bangor. But it did include some cities that are close!

Here's the top 10 'Safest Cities in Maine':

1. Yarmouth
2. Winslow
3. Kennebunk
4. Topsham
5. Orono
6. Caribou
7. Brewer
8. Bath
9. Old Town
10. Rockland

Ranking and statistics were based off things like violet crime per capita (Murder, rape, armed robbery) or property crimes per capita (theft/ burglary) and only focused on the cities in Maine with populations over 5,000.

Bangor actually ranked as 5th least safe city in Maine just above Portland and Ellsworth. The least safe cities in Maine over all were Skowhegan where you have a 1 to 1 chance of being a victim of a crime, Biddeford, and Augusta.
