My dog, Toby, loves to watch TV, and especially when there are deer on the screen.

Actually, it's not just deer. Toby gets excited anytime he sees cows, horses, and other dogs. They don't have to make any noise. He reacts to the sight of them before a single whinny or moo. I've truly never seen anything like it. Toby watches television more than any dog we've ever had, including howling when he hears Tevye singing 'If I Were a Rich Man' from Fiddler on the Roof. (okay, that's because of the sound, not the video)

In the summer, Jim and I will often grab a cup of coffee and drive around Orrington, looking for deer. He likes keeping track of their hangouts (hunter), while I snap pictures of them. Plus, we both just think they're beautiful. Last summer, we took Toby with us and he would get so excited that, now, all we have to do is say 'Deer' and he's looking around for them.

But the other night, we hadn't said the word at all. We just turned YouTube on our Roku and were watching the live cam feed from the Brownville Food Pantry for Deer when Toby ran to the TV. He put his nose right up to the screen and perked his ears up. I missed catching video of that, but did record him laying in front of the TV, among all his toys, and whining at the screen. Notice that everytime the deer moves, his ears perk up.

Now we know how to keep him entertained, as long as we can tune out the constant whining. Toby loves his dear deer friends.
